Onion besan curry for poori is a regular Indian traditional curry recipe which is entirely flour based curry. it consists of besan / gram flour, onions, spices, and water. this recipe would be a delicious combination for breakfast that generally served with chapati, and puri.
It has thick flowing consistency formed by besan flour. the consistency depends on cooking time, and water. do not over cook as it will become more thick. I suggest you to cook on low flame. that helps us to cook this curry fully and prevent from over thickness.

How To Make onion besan curry for poori :
Making besan paste :
Step 1 Firstly in a mixing bowl add one bowl of besan, & add required water to make soft batter. combine with fork to soft batter, make sure there are no lumps in batter.
Batter should be like a dosa batter (or ) thin batter.
Tempering for besan curry :
Step 1 Put the pan on flame and one table spoon oil then let it heat for a while till it gets hot enough.
Step 2 Now, add 1/2 spoon cumin seeds, 1/2 spoon mustard seeds. and sauté till they splutter.
Step 3 Add finely sliced onions, and sauté till they become transparent, Now add green finely chopped green chilies, sauté till they change color slightly.
Step 4 Add curry leaves, one spoon urad dal and sauté for one minute, curry leaves becomes little crispy and urad dal becomes light golden color.
Step 5 Now add one spoon turmeric powder, one spoon ginger garlic paste, sauté till the raw smell release.
Making onion besan curry for poori :
Step 1 Now add besan batter to the pan, & stir continuously on low flame for 2-3 minutes. slowly it becomes thick.
Step 2 Add 2 bowls of water to pan and mix well without lumps.
Step 3 Now add salt as required and red chili powder 2 spoons, & combine them once.
Step 4 And add one spoon coriander powder, mix and cook for 5-6 minutes on low to medium flame.
Step 5 Once done, check the curry if the consistency reached the required consistency. if its done remove from flame & garnish with coriander leaves. and enjoy with puri or chapati.

1 Take a large bowl, add one bowl besan to bowl, sieve flour once before add.
2 Add required water, and mix well to make batter like dosa batter (or ) thin batter. do not add flour directly to the boiling water, while adding to the curry. it will not dissolve in curry.
3 Now in a pan, add one table spoon oil, let it heat for a minute. once its ready adjust the flame to low - medium flame.
4 Add, 1/2 spoon cumin seeds, and 1/2 spoon mustard seeds. wait till 30 seconds. they will begin to splutter.
5 After that, Add finely sliced onions, fry till they become transparent. it will take 1-2 minutes.
7 Next, Add one spoon urad dal, and few curry leaves and sauté for 30 - 40 seconds. urad dal get change color to light golden and curry leaves become crispy.
8 Now add 1/2 spoon turmeric powder and one spoon ginger garlic paste, sauté for a minute till it release raw smell by it self.
9 Add besan batter, stir continuously on low flame, it will get thick consistency in short time. just add few more water and combine.
11 Add 2 spoons red chili powder, salt as required, one spoon coriander powder. then combine all.
13 Now open lid and mix once. and check whether it is thick. if its reached required consistency turn off the flame.
14 Finally garnish with coriander leaves, just mix once and then serve onion besan curry for poori (or) chapati.

1 Besan - one bowl
2 Green chilies - 4
3 Ginger garlic paste - one spoon
4 Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon
5 Salt - as required
6 Red chili powder - 2 spoons
7 Cumin seeds - 1/2 spoon
8 Mustard seeds - 1/2 spoon
9 Urad dal - 1 spoon
10 Curry leaves - few
11 Chopped onion - one
12 Water - as required

- Now add besan batter to the pan, stir continuously on low flame for 2-3 minutes. slowly it becomes thick.
- Add 2 bowls of water to it and combine batter without lumps.
- Now add salt as required and red chili powder 2 spoons. combine them once.
- Add one spoon coriander powder, mix and cook for 5-6 minutes on low to medium flame.
- Once done check the consistency, if it reaches to medium thick then turn off the flame, & garnish with coriander leaves, finally onion besan curry for poori ready to serve.
