Simple Palakura pappu recipe: Simple Palakura pappu recipe or Spinach dal, (Pala Kura pappu) is a traditional Indian recipe. & it is made by spinach, (Pala Kura) and red gram, tamarind juice. it has become part of regular dish, where we found in south Indian dishes. usually serving with rice for lunch.
For this Palakura pappu recipe preparation I'm using red gram. and added required amount of tamarind juice. we can also use ground nuts when we make tempering. but its optional for this recipe.
Here I have not using ground nuts. if you would like to add 3-4 spoons of ground nuts you can add while tempering.
There are different recipes which are prepared with spinach such as spinach dal, spinach fry using split green gram, and Palak paneer, Palak aloo curry. This dish can be serve as side dish for chapati, and white rice, bagara rice.
Although this Palakura pappu recipe is a healthy recipe for eyes, it can be eat often in a week.

How to make Simple Palakura pappu recipe :
Boiling spinach & dal :
Step 1 In a mixing bowl, Take one bowl of red gram,/ dal, wash dal for 2 times to remove dust.
Step 2 Place washed red gram in pressure cooker. usually Pala Kura pappu cooked in pressure cooker. you can also cook in vessel but it will take more time to cook.
Step 3 Then add 3 bowls of finely chopped & washed spinach, and 1/2 spoon turmeric powder, 1/2 spoon oil to it.
Step 4 Cook till get 3 whistles, then turn off the flame. wait till pressure releases naturally.
Step 5 After released pressure, mash dal to get smooth by using spoon.
Step 6 In a pan add one table spoon oil, let it heat on low- medium flame. and add 1/2 spoon cumin seeds, 1/2 spoon mustard seeds, wait till till splutter.
Step 7 Next add 1/2 spoon cumin seeds, 1/2 mustard seeds, once they splutter. add chopped green chilies, chopped garlic, sauté till they get change color slightly.
Step 8 Add 3-4 red chilies. and sauté for a minute, they slightly change color to dark.
Step 9 Add boiled spinach and red gram to the pan. combine with tempering, and sauté for a minute.
Step 10 Add one small bowl tamarind juice (should be thin), if you want to add more to your taste add as you want.
Step 11 Then cook for 3-4 minutes on medium flame, so that tamarind juice flavor combined with dal.
Step 12 Once done, Finally transfer to serving bowl, and garnish with coriander leaves, now Palakura pappu is ready to serve.
Ingredients :
1 Spinach (finely chopped) - 3 bowls
2 Red gram - one bowl
3 Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon
4 Oil - 1/2 tsp spoon when boiling (1/2 tsp spoon for tempering )
5 Tamarind juice - 1/4 bowl
6 Salt - Required to taste
7 Green chilies - 3-4
8 Garlic finely chopped - 4-5
9 Red chilies - 4
10 Coriander leaves - few leaves.
11 Cumin seeds - 1/2 spoon
12 Mustard seeds - 1/2 spoon
13 Water as required

Instructions to follow for Pala Kura pappu recipe:

- Put pan on the flame, and one table spoon of oil to it & let it heat till hot enough. once oil ready, add 1/2 spoon cumin seeds, 1/2 mustard seeds. once they started splutter, add chopped green chilies, chopped garlic & sauté till they get change color slightly.
- Add 3-4 red chilies, and sauté for a minute, they slightly change color to dark. then Add boiled spinach and red gram to the pan. combine with tempering, and sauté for a minute.
- Add one small bowl tamarind juice (should be thin), if you want to add more to your taste add as you want.
- Then cook for 3-4 minutes on medium flame, so that tamarind juice flavor combined with dal.
- Once done, Finally transfer to the serving bowl, and garnish with coriander leaves & enjoy Simple Palakura pappu recipe with white rice or chapati.
