Cabbage curry for chapathi or rice : Cabbage curry is a tasty side dish for chapati and rice, which is prepared by fresh cabbage, split green gram and spices, this is grated cabbage curry.
Generally cabbage curry prepared in different methods, such as plain cabbage, cabbage with Bengal gram. or cabbage with split green gram.
Here I have prepared by using split green gram. it would be a delicious combination with chapati, and it is easy to make although quick recipe. I prefer to have this with chapati than white rice.

How to make Cabbage curry for chapathi or rice :
- Firstly, in a mixing bowl, add 1/2 bowl of split green gram then wash for one time, and soak for at least 20 minutes. it helps us to cook them fast.
- Take one cabbage, & peel one layer to remove dust over cabbage, and wash it for one time, Next, grate this cabbage to make fry.
Frying cabbage curry :
- In a pan add one table spoon of oil, & let it heat on low to medium flame till it gets hot enough.
- Then add 1/2 spoon cumin seeds & 1/2 spoon mustard seeds. they will begin to splutter.
- Add 1 finely chopped onion, sauté till they become transparent.
- Add curry leaves sauté for one minute, then add chopped green chilies. sauté till they become changed color slightly. make sure chilies fried well.
- Add one spoon ginger garlic paste sauté till raw smell release by it self.
- Then add one half spoon turmeric powder, mix well. next add soaked split green gram. then fry for 3-4 minutes on low - medium flame, Then add grated cabbage which we kept side.
- Give a well mix and add salt as required, one spoon coriander powder, half spoon zeera powder (optional). then cook for 4-5 minutes on low to medium flame, finally garnish with coriander leaves & serve Cabbage curry for chapathi or rice

Step 1 Firstly, in a pan add one table spoon oil. let it heat, add 1/2 spoon mustard seeds & 1/2 spoon cumin seeds. seeds begin to splutter.
Step 2 Add one finely chopped onions, sauté till they become transparent on low to medium flame.
Step 3 Add green chilies 7-8 and sauté till get fried, then add one spoon ginger garlic paste. sauté for remove raw smell.
Step 4 Next add curry leaves, fry for one minute then add turmeric powder and mix well, then add soaked split green gram (split green gram should be soak for 20 minutes ). cook for 3-4 minutes on low to medium flame.
Step 5 Then add grated cabbage to pan and give a well mix.
Step 6 Add salt as required.
Step 7 Add 1/2 spoon coriander powder, 1/2 spoon zeera powder.
Step 8 Then close lid. cook for 4-5 minutes on medium flame.
Step 9 Turn off the flame, garnish with coriander leaves, combine once. and serve this Cabbage curry for chapathi or rice .
Ingredients :
1 Cabbage (grated) - 3 bowls
2 Split green gram - 1/2 bowl
3 Oil - one table spoon
4 Cumin seeds - 1/2 spoon
5 Mustard seeds - 1/2 spoon
6 Curry leaves - few
7 Onion - one
8 Green chilies - 7-8
9 Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon
10 Ginger garlic paste - one spoon
11 Coriander leaves - few
12 Salt - as required
13 Coriander powder - 1/2 spoon
14 Zeera powder - 1/2 spoon (optional)
